Announcing SCREAMDANCE! a new, experimental dance horror film festival in its very first year that seeks to support movement oriented films with a dark vision. Can zombies swagger with the kind of lurid grace that would make Maguy Marin Sleep No More? Are there filmmakers who spend hours toiling on stop motion animation replicas of the elevator scene in The Shining? Perhaps Thriller should be restaged with an all puppet cast? Balletic slasher scenes, anyone? Essentially: is dance film ready for dark genred storytelling? Is dance horror even a film genre? We posed these questions to the dance film community at large and accepted submissions free of charge, and now we are proud to present SCREAMDANCE! International Dance Horror Film Fest as the curated result of our questions.

Happening for one night only! on October 30 at UnionDocs, in conjunction with a Dead Celebrity Halloween party, where you can dress up as your favorite dead celebrity while infinitely fishnetted and danceable band The Simple Pleasure pours sound into your ears and Brooklyn Brewery helps you pour other things into other places. Advance tickets strongly encouraged as space is limited! Admission includes SCREAMDANCE! + Dead Celebrity Party + all you can safely drink.

SCREAMDANCE! is dreamed up & directed by Marisa Gruneberg of white road Dance Media (NYC); curated with love and gore by Meredith Early (Hattiesburg MS), Brandon Polanco (Austin TX), Jenny Stulberg (San Francisco CA) and Zeb West (Oakland CA).
