One Day Dance
was founded by Joseph Heitman in January of 2018 in Harford, CT. He started with one simple concept; to create dance films within a twenty-four-hour span. In the summer of 2018, Joseph relocated the company to NYC and expanded his vision for the company to include education programs, media services for dancers, and a new film season featuring numerous choreographers. Since its creation, One Day Dance has been featured in film screenings such as Jump/Cut, The University of Saint Joseph’s 5x5 Dance Festival, and The Dance Film Lab presented by the Dance Film Association. In addition, the company’s stage repertory has been presented by The Bridge for Dance, The Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts, The Queens Informal, The Actors Hour, and The Annual Six Degrees of Separation Showcase.

Joseph Heitman
is the Artistic Director of One Day Dance. Originally from Connecticut, Joseph Heitman is a graduate of the University of Hartford, Hartt Dance Division. Joseph graduated from the Hartt School Magna Cum Laude in 2017. Trained in Ballet, Limón, and various Hip Hop styles, Joseph pulls from a large movement vocabulary to create choreography. At the Hartt School Joseph had the opportunity to work with renowned choreographers such as Gregory Dolbashian, Norbert de la Cruz III, Doug Varone, and Stephen Pier. He has performed at prestigious theatres such as The Joyce Theater, Dixon Place, The Actors Fund Arts Center, Jazz at Lincoln Center, The Salvatore Capezio Theater, and The Mohegan Sun Arena. Joseph is a company member at Yu.S.Artistry and a former company member of Hanna Q Dance Company, Peter and Co., and Abarukas. His movement was described as "Animalistic yet graceful" with the ability to highlight "intricate choreography with precision and abandon" (Cecly Placenti - The Dance Enthusiast).
