About the Work:
Forgiveness: Allowing Joy to Reside
B3W Performance Group returns with its unique interdisciplinary expression in an exploration of forgiveness and joy. The newest work in a series devoted to Forgiveness allows the audience to ponder what to reclaim and what to release moving through a pandemic.
We have produced a series of projects focusing on Forgiveness since 2014. We presented Part I: Forgiving the Personal at Tribeca Performing Arts Center in May of 2016. We began developing Part II: Reframing Forgiveness: For Practical Use in Dismantling Systemic Racism with a few showings and a series of workshops from 2017-2020. Our initial intention with this upcoming performance was to continue that work. However, the impact of Covid and the continued threat to Black lives have shifted our perspective and goals, leading us to begin a new project. The new project, informed by our work over the years on Reframing Forgiveness: For Practical Use in Dismantling Systemic Racism, re-evaluates and creates something new from our individual and collective experiences impacted by the past two years. The emerging themes at this early stage of development include forgiveness, racism, rest as a form of resistance, joy as a form of activism, and the necessity of critical connections. The performance will connect vignettes of movement, voice, and poetic expression to take our audience on a journey of cathartic release and community belonging. Through our diverse stories of challenge and triumph, we will offer our audience entry points where each may see themselves reflected and affirmed. The ensemble of co-creators includes Nicole Y. McClam, Sara Roer, Juan Reyna, Emily Berry, Sarita Covington, and Shawn Rene Graham (also serving as a dramaturg).

**Masks are required for all audience members regardless of vaccination status**
