Teaching the Young Child: A Brain-Compatible Dance Workshop

Join Judith Nelson, MFA, and the Taylor School faculty for an immersive workshop exploring and practicing effective ways of teaching dance to young children. Since the first five years of a child’s life are critical for neurological and social-emotion growth, brain-compatible dance is a vital tool for a healthy start!

In the workshop participants will explore:

Rhyming BrainDance and the importance of its patterns for healthy body and brain development
How to focus a class with a cohesive, conceptual approach that emphasizes creativity, skills, imagination and the joy of dance
How to use the 5-part lesson plan developed by renowned dance educator, Anne Green Gilbert.
Other areas of lesson plan creation; such as music resources, teaching divergent learners.
