Tom Gold Dance brings Tom Gold's Le Voyage to open-air Amphitheater at Untermyer Park and Gardens
Steven Pisano
Returning to Untermyer Park and Gardens—the spectacular 43-acre public park, perched on a bluff overlooking the Hudson River in Yonkers, NY—for the fifth consecutive year, New York City-based Tom Gold Dance will present Tom Gold Dance Founder and Director Tom Gold’s Le Voyage in the stunning, open-air Amphitheater of the Park’s famed Walled Garden, Saturday, September 20 at 5:00PM.
Currently scheduled to perform are dancers Emily Cardea, Jourdan Epstein, Brian Gephart, and Cara Seymour, as well as vocalist Olivia Chindamo (the first ever jazz voice graduate student from The Juilliard School) and pianist Matthew Sheens. Additional artists will be named later. Running approximately 50 minutes, Le Voyage is set to songs of Michel Legrand from Jack Demy’s 1967 musical comedy Les Demoiselles de Rochefort starring Catherine Deneuve, as well as Léo Chauliac, Charles Trenet, Richard Rodgers, Oscar Hammerstein II, and Sheens.
For the Company’s September 20 engagement, Gold is creating a new section, amplifying in Le Voyage the spirit of joie de vivre that symbolized the French New Wave. With its mosaic-tiled stage framed by sphinx-topped columns faithfully restored to their original grandeur from more than a century ago, the Amphitheater will provide a unique setting for Gold’s vibrant and uplifting cabaret-style work.
The World Premiere of Le Voyage took place this past April during the Company’s most recent annual spring season, held in the Grand Ballroom of Bohemian National Hall, also with Chindamo and Sheens. Earlier this summer, Tom Gold Dance presented Le Voyage at the 2025 Newport Dance Festival in Newport, RI and in the Rose Footprint Theatre on the grounds of Shakespeare & Company in Lenox, MA.
