VEIL: Two Sisters

VEIL rehearsal photo Jahmani Perry

VEIL: Two Sisters, a multimedia performance two years in development, including travel to India, reveals two sisters lured into a link between the earthly and heavenly realms. As one sister calls forth the other from death, a poignant vision of our emotional and psychic lives is revealed.

Berkshire’s work is distinctive, with a blending of realistic and abstract gesture. Progressing with a sense of both unraveling and holding back, a simplicity expands into motion and emotion as circles, white flowing fabric, falling marigolds and a mysterious chorus of spirits accompany the reunion of two sisters and their process of forgiveness.

A gifted team of collaborators reunite. Cynthia has experience in the studio with each of the five performers, including studying Shorin Ryu Karate. They are joined by a team of visual designers, Shaun Irons and Lauren Petty, with whom Cynthia performed in their Why Why Always production at Abrons Art Center, 2017.

Accompanying the performance is a series of four creative movement workshops, some participants will join the performance.
