The Valentina Kozlova International Ballet Competition will come to a grand finale with the March 21 Gala performance followed by announcement of winners of company contracts, scholarships to international dance academies, and other prizes.  Awards will be presented to the most gifted and outstanding of the 150+ entrants, ages 11 to 26, from countries around the world, from Poland to Paraguay, performing both classical and contemporary dance styles.  Nina Ananiashvili returns as President of both the classical and contemporary juries, which consist of international dance luminaries.  Director Kozlova was a principal dancer with the Bolshoi Ballet before defecting in 1979, and appeared as principal with New York City Ballet for 13 years as well as guesting with major companies around the world.  Special guest at the Gala is Zoey Anderson, who will perform the electrifying solo Takademe by Robert Battle.
