"We're All Immigrants" Live Performances!

We're All Immigrants

What is the reality of chasing the ‘American Dream?’ What is it like to plant roots in this land of opportunity? Has immigration to the U.S. improved through time? Come experience these stories with Reaction Dance Company NYC in powerful live performances on July 16th, 17th.

We’re All Immigrants is a narrative fusion dance advocacy piece about the struggles of current immigration law. The show follows two Latinx immigrants present-day as they come to America to live the ‘American Dream,’ and are presented with the struggle of immigration status. The piece puts on stark display the hypocrisy of current immigration law through juxtaposition, taking you back in time through immigration to America from its beginnings in 1600 to today. Entertaining, inspiring and thought-provoking, the piece is embedded with multiple styles, traditional music from countries around the world, an easy-to-follow storyline, and a chance to reflect on America’s true stance on immigration. This performance is presented as part of SMUSH Gallery’s Summer 2021 Arts Residency Program.

Reaction Dance Company NYC is a leader in fusing cultural dances and morphing New York’s diverse cultures into innovative pieces of art. Join us for shows at SMUSH Gallery on July 16th and 17th, for the Extended Experience on July 18th, and for an inside look into the performance in an open rehearsal on July 14th.
