Ballet des Amériques / Carole Alexis Ballet Theatre are delighted to return to Teatro LATEA for eMeLe-K – “an Afro-Latin thing for Martin Luther King.”
The company’s performances, showcasing Carole Alexis’ diverse choreographies, explore the beauty of dance movements that evoke deep emotions connected to Afro-Caribbean heritage.
eMeLe-K is a cultural and artistic festival presented annually at Teatro LATEA in New York. Curated with a focus on celebrating African diasporic and Afro‑Latinx culture and legacy, the festival connects to the principles of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s vision of equality, justice, healing, and reconciliation. It provides a platform for performing and visual arts, music, dance, and community dialogue, highlighting the contributions of Afro‑Latinos, African Americans, and allies through artistic expression.
