Advocacy Alert: Dance for DCA
May 31, 2011
Dear New York City Dance Community,
As the leading advocate for dance, Dance/NYC is working to help the City help you during a challenging budgeting process, with significant cuts from the State and a reduction in federal aid.
The proposed FY 2012 for the Department of Cultural Affairs (DCA) is just over $100 million, which represents a cut of approximately $50 million (over 30 percent).
The New York City Council's public hearing for the full FY 2012 budget is:
.........When? Monday, June 6, 3:30 pm (early arrival strongly recommended)
.........Where? Emigrant Savings Bank - 49-51 Chambers Street
Dance/NYC will be there to represent dance and communicate the importance of DCA funding to your work. Please tell me what to say on behalf of you and your organization. You can send stories and statements directly to me at lharwell@dancenyc.org.
You may also use these next few weeks to communicate with your representatives in person and by letter, phone and e-mail. To find your City Councilmember, visit: http://council.nyc.gov/html/members/members.shtml
