FY2020 Budget Has Been Approved

WE DID IT!

Thanks to advocacy by so many cultural groups across the city, we succeeded in getting the City Council to hold off the budget cut, AND they've added well over $50 million to the overall budget making it the largest cultural budget in NYC history!

And that's not all!

Weeksville Heritage Center was made a member of the Cultural Institutions Group (CIG), the first organization to be added in more than 20 years! Congrats to Weeksville Director Rob Fields, who many of you saw speak at the City Hall Rally, and to everyone who worked so hard for this.

Congratulations to all of you in this budding cultural coalition---we are stronger together! And enormous gratitude for the leadership shown by Speaker Corey Johnson, CM Laurie Cumbo, CM Daniel Dromm, CM Jimmy Van Bramer, and the entire City Council.  We could not have done this without their incredible support!

We encourage everyone to email their Council Member and the Mayor's office thanking them for this much needed additional investment in the many organizations working to provide culture and art to ALL New Yorkers.

Please join in on social media and post/tweet in celebration of the increase. Tag the Mayor's office @NYCMayorsOffice and the City Council @NYCCouncil to thank them.

Thanks so much for your advocacy and hard work.
