New York State is close to implementing the Responsible AI Safety and Education (RAISE) Act for safer AI implementation. Tell Governor Hochul to sign the RAISE Act to build towards a future of AI protections for cultural and other workers.

What is happening?

This spring, the New York State legislature passed the RAISE Act, which establishes baseline AI safety measures. It requires major AI companies to create, publish, and follow protocols managing high-risk AI systems. It includes protections for whistleblowers, mandates third-party audits, and authorizes the state to penalize companies that fail to comply. Now, Governor Hochul just needs to sign the bill into law.

Why does this matter?

Dance workers need AI safeguards that protect their valuable creative labor from theft and replacement. However, many corporate and political interests seek to further deregulate AI, including the Trump administration’s AI Action Plan. The RAISE Act pushes back by establishing baseline safeguards, setting the groundwork for stronger future protections for cultural workers.
