As part of its initiative to increase inclusion and access to the arts for disabled people, Dance/NYC unveils foundational quantitative research, Discovering Disability: Data and NYC Dance. Prepared by Anne Coates in collaboration with Dance/NYC’s Disability. Dance. Artistry. Task Force, this study was made possible with leadership support from the Stavros Niarchos Foundation and the New York State Council on the Arts, with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature. Artistry. is a qualitative study focused at the nexus of disability and dance and a response Dance/NYC’s quantitative report, Discovering Disability: Data & NYC Dance. The study was prepared by Anne Coates, with a foreword by Simi Linton, and in collaboration with Dance/NYC's Disability. Dance. Artistry. Task Force and featured speakers at Dance/NYC's inaugural Disability. Dance. Artistry. convening on July 8, 2015. The study was made possible with leadership support from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation and the New York State Council on the Arts, with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature.
