Funding Priorities & Lottery Process
Dance/NYC seeks to award grants to as many dance workers as funding allows.
Lottery Process
Grant selection will be determined through a weighted lottery process, administered through Randompicker.com.
Eligible applicants will receive weighted points aligned with the program’s funding priorities informed by Dance/NYC’s ongoing research and feedback from the DWR Fund Consultants and the DWR Fund Advisory Group. These priorities consider demonstrated financial need and applicants who identify as members of historically underfunded groups within the applicant pool and the broader dance field, including:
- African, Latina/o/x, Asian, Arab, and Native American (ALAANA) identity
- Disabled identity
- Immigrant identity
- LGBTQIA+
- Older Adults (40+)
- Gender nonconforming / nonbinary / genderqueer and transgender identity
Eligible applicants will be awarded “weight points” based on how many priority criteria they meet. The more priority categories an applicant aligns with, the more entries they receive in the lottery. While Dance/NYC is committed to a fair and randomized selection process, adjustments to the weighted lottery may be made to better reflect our stated values and intended outcomes. This does not include the manual selection of individual applicants.
