The Growth Art Project 2014

Our Story

“The Growth Art Project 2014” aims to exhibit how spirituality can develop by speaking with one’s body instead of one’s voice, through movement I can describe only as ‘natural’ and unique to each individual. We hope to showcase pieces that are easily understood and relatable. These pieces will help audiences discover how people may experience similar spiritual states while their individuality makes them unique. Thus, projecting who “I” am, who “YOU” are, and who “WE” are.

What is The Growth Art Project?

ARTLAB OH and SUNPROJECT co-present “The Growth Art Project (TGAP),” a contemporary dance series featuring talented emerging international choreographers and performers living and working in the New York area.

The Growth Art Project 2014 (TGAP) has been produced by ‘In Kyung Oh,’ founder of “ArtLab OH,” and created by artistic director ‘Sun-ae Hwang’ of “SUNPROJECT.” The project will select rising contemporary dance teams and will showcase their outstanding pieces. Works by “SUNPROJECT,” as well as other up-and-coming and established dance companies, will be performed. TGAP focuses on the effort for subsistence and survival, overcoming the conflict between what is inside the artist and what is outside in the world. It shows how art can mirror society and expand people’s perspectives.

The selection of choreographers and performances will take place on Sunday, December 14 at 8:00pm. The location is City Center, 6th floor, 130 W. 56th St., New York.

TGAP’s mission is to create and connect dance communities internationally through investigation, reflection and action, along with audience feedback. Through this experimental art project, we strive to understand the relationship between artists and audiences and how to use art to break down interpersonal barriers. Ultimately, we seek to navigate and develop our artistic vision and passion as a whole.
