Dances for Solidarity Seeks Intern

Dances for Solidarity letter writing session Photo by: Ari Joseph

Dances for Solidarity (dancesforsolidarity.org) is a project led by choreographer Sarah Dahnke in correspondence with incarcerated people in solitary confinement. Dahnke and an active group of correspondents co-create choreography through the mail with prisoners who are locked in their cell for 23-24 hours per day. The project then finds outlets to perform this choreography publicly and display visual artwork created behind bars.

We are seeking an intern to assist with weekly digital communications (email newsletter, Facebook, Instagram, Wordpress), performance and exhibition promotion, grant writing, and general administrative tasks.

Dances for Solidarity is currently a community partner of Brooklyn Studios for Dance, and interns will be able to work collaboratively with both organizations. Dances for Solidarity currently has ongoing performance and exhibitions through Spring 2017.

Email Sarah at dancesforsolidarity@gmail.com with interest and availability.
