DESCRIPTION

Grind Arts is developing a multi-medium environmental theatre piece based on John Milton’s epic poem Paradise Lost. Using choreography, projection, music, and text we will create the worlds of Heaven, Hell, and Eden, posing the story as an allegory for contemporary human behavior. This production has a rock, rebellios sensibility and we're looking for performers who break convention.

ROLES TO CAST 

LUCIFER – Brilliant, petulant, highly emotional. He was designed to experience the world more intensely than his fellow angels. An artist’s soul with severe daddy issues. Must play guitar.  

EVE – Curious, sensual, smart, bursting on the inside with self-discovery. She loves Adam, but something is pulling her towards adventure. 

GOD – A sexual/gender-fluid rock god. Think David Bowie meets Pina Bausch. He’s a huge fucking celebrity that’s created everything, but can’t quite focus on it because he’s always looking for “what’s next.” Exists on a higher plane. 

ADAM – Earnest, amazed, impressionable. He’s God’s first try at man. Not quite as strong of a leader as the title Prince of Mankind might insinuate. 

SIN – Born from Lucifer’s ear when he had his first rebellious thought. They make love and she gives birth to Death who eats out her insides. Together they guard the gates of hell. She’s been through it. 

THE SON – God’s new boy toy. Lucifer 2.0. Absolutely perfect and kind of knows it. America’s golden child in his sincerity, blind loyalty, and arrogance. 

MICHAEL – Second most powerful angel in heaven to Lucifer. Constantly mocked by Lucifer. A little bitch in big man’s clothing. Defeats Lucifer in the great battle.  

DEATH – Lucifer’s Son / Grandson. A three headed dog guarding the gates of hell with his mother, Sin.  She’s been through it.

BEEZLEBUB – Fallen angel. Lucifer’s right hand man. Loyal, yet grappling with having to live in hell after an eternity in heaven. 

MOLOCH, JEZEBEL, MULCIBAR – Fallen angels. Lucifer’s cronies in heaven and hell. Learning how to give in to personal desire. 

NOTE - ROLES MAY BE COVERED BY MULTIPLE ACTORS IN DIFFERENT DISCIPLENES (ie a singer and a dancer

SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS 
For consideration, email picture and resume ASAP. Mark submissions: PARADISE LOST [dancer/singer/other] (please choose one or two) 

If dancer, include a reel or short video of your work. 

If singer, include short video or recording of your work. 

Also include any special talents you might have (an instrument, a skill, a know-how) and include a video if possible.

APPOINTMENTS 
NYC auditions by APPOINTMENT ONLY will be held on 6/9/2017 

Please prepare a 16 bar cut of rock music or 30-45 seconds of dance in your own style. 

Singers are encouraged to accompany themselves, though an accompanist will be provided. 

If you can play an instrument, please bring it with you or use the piano. 

Bring any materials you would need to show off a special skill. We are looking to create a well-rounded cast.
