Call for Teaching Artists - Dancing Classrooms NYC

Auditions Thursday, May 31st

The Dancing Classrooms program is a social development and arts-in-education program teaching ballroom dance to children during their school day. Our mission is to teach essential life skills to children through the practice of social dance.

We are holding auditions for new Teaching Artists candidates on Thursday, May 31st from 9:30am-12:30pm
Auditions will be held at Ripley-Grier Studios on 520 8th Avenue, 16th Floor, New York, NY 10018
To sign up for the audition, please fill out the following online form: Teaching Artist Audition Intake Form
You will need the following materials ready in order to complete the form:
1. Cover Letter
2. Resume with references included
3. Headshot (optional)

REQUIREMENTS TO AUDITION:
1) Applicant must be available to attend our upcoming TA training which is unpaid from July 9-13 (5 days, 8 hours of training per day). Training commitment is non-negotiable, please do not apply if you're unable to commit to attending training.
2) Applicant must also be able to make a solid commitment to a sequential ten-week residency 2-4 days per week in a school during the hours of 8am to 3pm
3) Upon employment, new-hires will be fingerprinted with the NYC DOE

Dancing Classrooms Teaching Artists are:
Not necessarily ballroom trained prior to working for us. We seek actors, dancers, individuals who can move with rhythm; have excellent interpersonal skills; love kids; able to work in a team; work in a classroom in a public school; have a generous spirit; a sense of humor; and a willingness to travel within NYC's 5 boroughs
