Description of Role:

We are in search of a part-time Retail Associate and Fitting Specialist to join the team in our Manhattan Boutique. Dancers from around the globe visit the sole Gaynor Minden showroom, seeking expert pointe shoe fitting advice and a charming, memorable experience. The Fitting Specialist will work one-on-one with dancers of all ages and experience levels to provide expertise in-person, online, and over the phone. The ideal candidate for this position has a love and knowledge of ballet, and a dedication to Gaynor Minden's mission: To help dancers thrive.

 

Tasks:

 - Conduct Pointe shoe fittings (training provided)
 - Customer Service
 - Assist in maintaining & organizing stock room & Boutique showroom
 - Managing online fitting submissions
 - Email & Phone Consultations
 - Occasional attendance at events throughout NYC

Skills and Requirements:

 - Working knowledge of ballet & pointework
 - Reliable & consistent work ethic
 - "Go-getter" attitude & ability to take initiative
 - Strong attention to detail
 - Great interpersonal & communication skills
 - Comfort with teamwork
 - A creative mindset
 - Patience, and a sence of humor
 - Fluency in Spanish and/or Portuguese a plus

Work Schedule:

We are ideally looking for a candidate to work 8 hours shifts on at least 3 consecutive days a week. Weekend availability is a huge plus. Must be able to work some holidays. Days are flexible, but schedule should remain consistent.

Benefits:

On-the-job training will be provided. Paid sick time available. Has the potential to evolve into a full-time, more involved position if desired.
