Details on Rates, Commitment, and Process 

Johnnie Cruise Mercer is looking to work with a team of four-seven BIPOC movement artists from different movement aesthetics, backgrounds, and practices. Movement artists must have an interest in working with voice, memory, and media in an intimate, collaborative processes. 

Artists will be asked to create in community alongside Mercer, The IAMI Collective, and various poets, composers, DJs, media artists, and videographers. The period of commitment will include:

- A sharing on Nov 6th, 2022 at Center for Performance Research

 - A youth-based performance on February 2nd, 2023 at the 92NY’s Kaufman Concert Hall

- A possible sharing in May 2022 

- The creation of “The Decade from Hell…” (a movement theater documentary work created in collaboration with long time dance film collaborator, Torian Ugworji) set to premiere at Gibney on June 15th-17th 2023. 

Movement artists must be willing/able to commit to rehearsals, sharings, and performances in New York City from Oct 2022-June 2023. Rehearsal/Creative Session times will be scheduled based on cast availability.  Availability for performances and sharings is required for consideration. 

Rates

Creative Sessions/Rehearsal Rate $25.00 an hour

Creative Sessions/Rehearsals will take place for a week in November; and pick back up  once-twice a week from Jan 2023-June 2023 as decided by cast. 

 

Zoom Virtual Meeting Rate $17.00 an hour 

Scheduled infrequently and only by need 

 

Performance Rate 

$150.00 a sharing (Nov 6th 2022/and possible May 2022) 

$200.00 a show (Feb 2nd 2023, June 15th-17th 2023) 

Additional Stipends offered for Creative Media and Facilitation based tasks
