Jason Herbert Dance invites expressive and dedicated movers to join the creation and premiere of On The Rocks, featured in the Uptown Rising Fall 2025 Showcase.

On The Rocks explores the miraculous transformations sparked by science and weather phenomena—forces that mirror the ever-evolving human experience. At its core, the work celebrates renewal: the power to become new versions of ourselves each day, even after life’s unexpected storms.

The narrative follows a group of artists living seemingly simple lives—until an environmental shift upends their world. Disoriented and reshaped by life’s elements, they find strength in vulnerability. Like the sunrise after a storm, they recover, revive, and renew. This new ballet embraces emotional unrest while offering a vision of hope, humor, and healing.

The process will unfold over two live, spontaneous rehearsals, emphasizing collaboration, creativity, and discovery.

Dates:

Performance: Saturday, November 8, 2025

Tech/Dress Rehearsal: Friday, November 7 (30-minute call between 6:00–10:30 PM)

Rehearsals:

Sunday, November 2, 3:00–6:00 PM

Wednesday, November 5, 3:00–6:00 PM

Eligibility:

 - Ages 21–30

 - Intermediate to advanced level dancers in ballet, jazz, and contemporary/postmodern movement

 - Must be available for all rehearsals, tech, and performance dates

If selected, dancers will receive a confirmation email on October 31. By accepting, you agree to commit fully to all listed rehearsal, tech, and performance dates and times. Unfortunately, no schedule adjustments or substitutions can be accommodated.
