Dance Teacher

 

Location: Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens – New York, NY

Do you have a passion for dance and a talent for inspiring young performers? We are seeking a creative and dedicated Dance Teacher to lead high-quality dance instruction for K-12 students in New York City. In this role, you’ll help students explore movement, build confidence, and develop technical and artistic skills through engaging lessons and professional-level performance opportunities.

This is an ideal position for educators or professional dancers who are excited to share their craft, collaborate with peers, and make a meaningful impact on students’ artistic growth.

Role Overview

As a Dance Instructor, you will create a dynamic learning environment where students develop a love for dance while honing technical skills and creative expression. You will guide students through choreography, performance, and movement analysis while fostering teamwork, discipline, and confidence.

Key Responsibilities

Instruction & Curriculum Development

Develop and teach a structured dance curriculum that covers technique, choreography, and creative expression.
Demonstrate and guide movement to teach proper form, style, and technique.
Engage students with lessons that connect artistic practice to personal growth and self-expression.

Performance & Production

Plan, rehearse, and execute professional-quality student dance performances and showcases.
Collaborate with other performing arts educators to create a cohesive, school-wide dance program.
Encourage students to participate in school and community arts events.

Student Engagement & Classroom Culture

Build a safe, supportive, and motivating classroom where students feel confident exploring dance.
Provide individualized feedback to help students improve technical skills and performance quality.
Promote collaboration, leadership, and teamwork through group projects and performances.

Professional Development & Collaboration

Participate in coaching and real-time feedback sessions to continuously refine instructional methods.
Collaborate with colleagues and school leadership to enhance the arts curriculum.
Contribute to school initiatives that highlight the importance of the performing arts in education.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree completed prior to start date; professional training in dance or performing arts strongly preferred.
Extensive performance experience or professional dance credits.
Strong classroom management and leadership skills, with experience guiding groups of students.
Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational abilities.
Passion for inspiring students and fostering creativity and confidence.

Compensation

Salary Range: $65,000 USD
