ABOUT BAAD!

BAAD! Bronx Academy of Arts and Dance creates, produces, presents, and supports the development of cutting-edge, challenging works in contemporary dance and other creative disciplines that empower women, Latinos, people of color, and LGBTQ communities. BAAD!’s newest initiative, AATT Academy, is an athletic dance education program for students ages 6–9, rooted in the training and artistic philosophy of BAAD!’s Artistic Director, Arthur Avile?s.

ABOUT AATT ACADEMY

AATT Academy is inspired by Arthur Avile?s’ multidisciplinary training in ballet, contemporary dance, gymnastics, wrestling, swimming, diving, and other physical forms, which led him to develop Swift/Flow, a movement technique grounded in water-based principles.

The Academy empowers professional Teaching Artists to implement this technique as the foundation of the curriculum, creating a progressive training ground for athletic dancers who are deeply connected to their bodies, behaviors, and community.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Athletic Dance Education Audio/Visual Operator (ADEAVO) is an in-studio role responsible for handling all audio/visual elements associated with the AATT Academy program during the Spring 2026 term. The ADEAVO reports to the Artistic Director.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Staff Support

?  Work closely with the Athletic Dance Education Coordinator (ADEC) and Athletic Dance Education Assistant (ADEA)

?  Attend and support orientations, workshops, and end-of-term performances Communication & Community Engagement

?  Build and maintain relationships with ADEC, ADEA and Teaching Artists

?  Manage ongoing communication via email and phone

?  Maintain program correspondence and brand-aligned communication throughout the year

?  Maintain and update the AATT Academy Google Calendar and published office hours

Studio & Technical Support

?  Set up and strike studio spaces for sessions (lights, computer, projector, amplifier, mixer)

?  Ensure a safe, orderly, and respectful environment by enforcing safety rules

?  Manage the digital materials (music, images, videos) by deadlines

?  Monitor area outside the classroom when classes are in session

?  Prepare ADEC and ADEA props and materials (taping, mats, parachutes, books, cubbies, etc)

?  Maintenance support (cleaning when necessary during or after program)

QUALIFICATIONS

?  A dancer who is inclined towards and not afraid of tech

?  Punctual, proactive, and detail-oriented with big-picture thinking

?  Comfortable working with a computer and in the Google Suite, Excel, and audio programs (i.e. Spotify,

Pandora, Apple Music, YouTube)

?  Comfortable working in an environment of children ages 6–9 and their guardians

?  Strong leadership and ability to set a positive, values-driven program tone

?  Excellent verbal and written communication skills

?  Emotionally intelligent; strong problem-solving and adaptability

?  Thrives in fast-paced environments with strong time-management skills

?  English fluency required; Spanish a plus; Bengali a plus

?  Prior experience in tech not necessary, but a plus

?  Prepare backyard in possibility of outdoors activities (seasonal, and weather depending)

COMPENSATION

? Administrative hours: Average 20 hours/week, $20/hour with approved additional hours as needed.
