Open Table Series: Call for Emerging Choreographers

Turning Tables invites NYC-based emerging artists to apply for Open Table Series, an evolving platform supporting process-driven creation and performance.

For its inaugural iteration, Open Table centers on the 2026 theme Identity and Reclamation. Artists are invited to propose new or existing works that push the boundaries of dance and are rigorously engaged with their subject matter through deeply embodied practice. Turning Tables seeks to curate a dynamic and diverse program reflecting a wide range of movement vocabularies, cultural expressions, and perspectives.

Selected works will be presented on April 10, 2026 at Arts On Site (NYC).

Selected choreographers will receive:

Social media marketing support

A post-performance Q&A gathering with artists and audience

Photo and video documentation for future marketing use


Application Requirements:

Works must not exceed 10 minutes

Maximum of 8 dancers

Work samples may include performance or rehearsal footage of the proposed work, or prior work representative of the choreographer’s practice

All dance styles and multidisciplinary works are encouraged to apply



Important Dates:

Applications Due: February 23, 2026 at 11:59 PM EST

Choreographers Notified: February 27, 2026

Tech Rehearsal: April 10, 2026 | 3:00–6:00 PM

Performances: April 10, 2026 | 6:30 PM & 8:30 PM
