ABOUT BAAD!

BAAD! Bronx Academy of Arts and Dance creates, produces, presents, and supports the development of cutting-edge and challenging works in contemporary dance and other creative disciplines that empower women, Latinos, people of color, and LGBTQ communities.

BAAD!’s newest initiative, AATT Academy, is an athletic dance education program for students ages 6–9, based on the training and artistic philosophy of BAAD!’s Artistic Director, Arthur Avilés.

ABOUT AATT ACADEMY

AATT Academy is inspired by Arthur Avilés’ multidisciplinary training in ballet, contemporary dance, gymnastics, wrestling, swimming, diving, and other physical forms, which led him to develop Swift/Flow, a movement technique rooted in water-based principles.

Professional Teaching Artists implement this technique as the foundation of the curriculum, creating a progressive training ground for athletic dancers who are deeply connected to their bodies, behaviors, and community.

AATT Academy fosters a positive, fun, safe, and creative environment grounded in five core values:

Celebrate individuality

Celebrate diversity

Freedom within structure

Always think in the fabulous realm

Dance together as a community
