Jamel Gaines Creative Outlet (JGCO) is a Brooklyn-based arts organization dedicated to delivering high-quality arts education and culturally responsive programming to NYC public schools and communities.

YOU MUST BE DOE FINGERPRINTED FOR THIS ROLE & MUST BE ABLE TO TEACH TRADITIONAL THEATER

 

Responsibilities

Deliver engaging, age-appropriate instruction to middle and high school students

Develop and implement structured lesson plans aligned with program goals

Prepare students for in-school sharings and/or culminating performances

Foster a positive, inclusive, and collaborative classroom environment

Communicate effectively with school staff and the JGCO administrative team

Maintain professionalism and punctuality when traveling to assigned Brooklyn school sites

 

Requirements

Prior teaching experience in NYC public schools preferred

Strong classroom management skills

Reliable transportation and the ability to commute within Brooklyn

Fingerprint clearance with the NYC Department of Education (DOE)

PETs clearance required

Professional references

 

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working with diverse student populations

Background in culturally responsive arts education

Performance and/or professional artistic experience

Ability to adapt curriculum for varying skill levels

 

Compensation

$50–$80 per hour based on experience, credentials, and scope of responsibilities.
