CALL FOR NYC SITE-SPECIFIC CONTEMPORARY DANCERS
Paid Performance Opportunity — Lindsey Hanson Collective

Lindsey Hanson Collective is seeking contemporary dancers for an upcoming site-specific performance at Redeemer Presbyterian Church on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. Dancers must reside in NYC/NJ.

Choreography incorporates movement in collaboration with wooden pews, handrails, walls, climbing, crawling beneath pews, and minor immersive elements such as briefly holding an audience member’s hand. Check out excerpts of previous works here. 

PROJECT DETAILS
Location: Redeemer Presbyterian Church West Side
150 W 83rd Street, New York, NY

Rehearsals: August 17 – September 4
3–4 rehearsals per week, approximately 3–4 hours per rehearsal

Tech Rehearsals: September 1–4, hours TBD

Performance: Saturday, September 5, exact time TBD

COMPENSATION: $1000 stipend ($810 for rehearsal/tech period, $190 for show day)

LOOKING FOR DANCERS WHO:
• Have professional experience in contemporary and/or site-specific performance work
• Have a natural, grounded movement quality, strong contemporary techquique, jazz technique also beneficial 
• Are comfortable dancing in close proximity to audience members
• Are open to climbing, crawling, and moving on/around wooden pews in unconventional ways
• Have upper body strength and/or aerial experience (no aerial elements in the show but the skills are highly transferable to this work)

Applicants will be asked to provide:
• Headshot
• Resume PDF
• General availability for August 17 – September 5
• Vimeo or YouTube link to a ~3 minute video 

Dance videos should preferably demonstrate contemporary movement and, if possible, include collaboration with a chair, table, furniture object, architectural element, or floor-based movement.
