Annabella Gonzalez Dance Theater, a modern dance company led by Mexican-born Annabella Gonzalez with excellent dancers, presents "Sorpesas" (Surprises) at Manhattan Movement & Arts Center, 248 West 60th Street. Works reflect AGDT’s special mix of Latin-flavored movement with classical and with original contemporary music. Its provocative variety challenges and engages audiences. The premieres are by Annabella, by an AGDT dancer and by a guest choreographer. Annabella’s "Midnight Blue" is a vibrant, colorful group work with music by noted NYC composer Stefania de Kenessey. "Elégie" is a duet by Company member Shannon Maynor set to music by Fauré and "The Golden Time", a trio with Vivaldi music by choreographer and AGDT alumnus Christopher Amato. Favorites by Annabella include "Flecha", a rhythmic trio with pulsating music by Spanish composer Elisenda Fábregas. íCaballeros! by Marcos de Jesus features drumming, narration and singing. Guests Esteban Arana and Leticia Pliego of Nu-Lu Danza present "Nostalgia 2”. Annabella is “a National Treasure” (Jennings, Attitude). We promise you a good time!
