Kimberly Bartosik & Burr Johnson IN-PERSON // NYC Outside Class

The Lanes (I hunger for you) with Kimberly Bartosik & Burr Johnson

Sunday, July 25th at 11am-12pm

DESCRIPTION:
Kimberly Bartosik and Burr Johnson co-teach material from I hunger for you (2018, Bam Next Wave). Following a brief warm up, we will teach phrase material from the work referred to as "The Lanes."  We will process it as we did in the original creation of the work, deconstructing and reconstructing its parts to create dynamic, rhythmic pathways of movement that increase in intensity and accumulate in energy and breath. Wear sneakers and bring knee pads and a water bottle. Get ready to get sweaty!  https://www.daela.org/i-hunger-for-you

Choreographer, performer, educator, essayist Kimberly Bartosik creates viscerally provocative, ferociously intimate choreographic projects that dramatically illuminate the ephemeral nature of performance while critically, tenderly, and violently etching away at deeply distressing threads of our society. Recent awards include a Guggenheim Fellowship; Virginia B. Her articles Give Artists a Home! and It’s Time to Reimagine Dance Funding, were recently featured in Dance Magazine.
