An Afro-contemporary dance theater company seeks a positive and dependable individual to join its talented team as a Marketing Manager Intern. Gifted En Movement currently tours and provides consulting services to clients in Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, and Europe. The Marketing Intern supports the development of the GEM marketing strategy, and correspondence with other company staff members to strengthen content marketing. This is an internship with potential to grow into a full-time, paid position.

 

Mission

To promote African Diaspora movement from a holistic, integrative approach, facilitating dance engagements that foster socially and spiritually creative dance artists and diverse global communities

PRINCIPLE DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop a marketing strategy to strengthen content marketing in African diaspora dance programming as it pertains to the online school, residencies, and events on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Vimeo.

Maintain company website by conducting weekly content updates.

Work closely with Artistic Director and consulting design firm on organizational rebrand and communicate brand across all channels.

Implement and maintain communications strategy into calendar of institutional messaging/activities consistent across platforms including publicity, advertising, social media, web, and print materials.

Project and manage box office income and reporting of ticket sales. Develop subscription and single ticket strategy.

Oversee, manage and analyze audience, artist, and donor data for future income projection and cultivation.

Work with presenting organizations to produce content for use in promoting the GEM tour engagements for workshop series and performances.

Prepare and distribute press releases, respond to press inquiries, and securing event, artist, or organizational features, stories, and listings.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s Degree in arts administration, nonprofit management, business, marketing, communications, or equivalent work experience. Knowledge about traditional and contemporary African diaspora movement desired.

2-3 years experience in a non-profit arts organization or creative agency working in a similar capacity.

Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills. Detail-oriented and capable of managing concurrent deadlines.

Ability to work independently and to manage both short and long-term projects.

Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel), a must. Experience working with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign), database systems and ticketing software (OvationTix), a plus.

Internship is 20 hours per week.
