ABOUT EMBODIED ARTS BALI…

Three years after opening our studio doors with just one ballet class per week, Embodied Arts Bali has expanded and grown into a dance school offering up to 11 classes per week, serving a range of students from 5 to 60 years old.

We are built on the belief that art and movement is a universal language that connects us regardless of nationality, race, religion or creed. Amongst the backdrop of ancient Hindu culture set in lush rolling jungles, Bali has become the ultimate melting pot for all of this, and our students reflect that diversity.

MEANING BEHIND THE ORIGIN DANCE RESIDENCY…

After retirement from a career as a full-time dancer, a vision was born to have a space where care, collaboration, community were the key components to creating art from a place of fullness. As artists, we know the meaning of sacrifice in the name of the higher good, but it often comes at a cost: over-working, exhaustion, burn-out…

Bali is a place like none other where the resources available to explore your optimal health are truly abundant. When I landed here, I felt like I had come to a place where I was given the opportunity to let go of all the stories of what I should be and really come back to my original self. When we come to this place in our body and life, creativity arises with its own splendor.

WHAT THE ORIGIN DANCE RESIDENCY ENTAILS

Selected residents will:

   -Be profficient in professional level ballet and contemporary techniques
   -Commit to 1-2 months of residency
   -Receive accommodation and monthly stipend provided for entire length of stay
   -Teach up to 4 classes per week
   -Share 1 speciality workshop during residency
   -Choreograph a dance piece inspired by time spent at the residency
   -Use free time to rest recharge and explore the richness Bali has to offer

Applications are due on 15 July 2018 for the 2018-2019 season.
Residencies vary in length from 1-2 months.
