Dance/NYC's Junior Committee Seeking 2018-19 Members!

Expected Activities

JComm is involved with several projects during the year. In the 2017-18 term, these included organizing a panel during the Dance/NYC Symposium, hosting a spring Town Hall long table discussion (Labor of Love? A Long Table), coordinating internal professional development sessions, participating in a day-long anti-oppression workshop, and creating and implementing an alumni mentorship program. Projects may vary from term to term.

  • Presenting or facilitating panels or discussions at events such as the Dance/NYC Symposium, City Council hearings, and Junior Committee Town Halls
  • Participating in candid and stimulating discussions that move the dance field forward
  • Becoming a part of a networked group willing to share skills, resources, experience, and contacts with one another

*Please note: JComm does not accept applications from candidates who will be undergraduate students during their year on the Committee. If you are graduating in May, you are welcome to apply. JComm also does not accept applications from candidates who will turn 31 during their year of service.

Application Process

All applications will be read by all current members of the Junior Committee. Following the application review, selected applicants will be invited to a 30-minute in-person interview with two current JComm members. These interviews will take place between May 21 and June 4, 2018. JComm is committed to hosting interviews in accessible locations. Please share any accessibility accommodation requests and inquiries in advance of your interview at dancenycjcomm@gmail.com. The full Junior Committee will reconvene following the interviews and make a final decision on which applicants to accept. All applicants will be notified of their application status by June 8, 2018. The number of available positions in the committee varies from year to year depending on the expected workload for the upcoming year and the number of returning committee members.
